  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want to broadcast a workbook using the distribution type <ZK>Broadca
st E-mail (Bursting)</> , where the input variable for the workbook
changes for each receiver (option <ZK>Generate Document with Variable
Value</>). This is not technically possible if the variables for the
workbook are filled using a variant (see <ZK>Workbook Precalculation</>
    tab page).

    System Response

The broadcast setting is inconsistent and can neither be saved or
    executed.

    How to fix this error?

Explicitly determine the variables for the workbook (not with a variant)
or choose the option <ZK>Send Document Unchanged</> for the receiver
    determination.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSRD518 - Workbook with variant: generation of doc. with variable val. not possible ?

The SAP error message RSRD518, which states "Workbook with variant: generation of doc. with variable val. not possible," typically occurs in the context of SAP Business Explorer (BEx) when trying to generate a report or workbook that includes variables that cannot be resolved. This can happen for several reasons, and here are some common causes, solutions, and related information:

    Causes:

    1. Unresolved Variables: The workbook may contain variables that are not being filled correctly, either because the user has not provided values or the values are not available in the context of the query.
    2. Missing Authorizations: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to access the data or the specific variable values required for the report.
    3. Incorrect Variable Settings: The variables in the query may be incorrectly configured, such as being set to mandatory without default values.
    4. Data Source Issues: The underlying data source may not be available or may have issues that prevent the report from being generated.
    5. Workbook Configuration: The workbook itself may have configuration issues, such as incorrect links to queries or data sources.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Variable Values: Ensure that all required variables are filled in correctly. If the workbook prompts for variable values, make sure to provide valid inputs.
    2. Review Authorizations: Verify that the user has the necessary authorizations to access the data and the variables used in the workbook.
    3. Examine Variable Settings: Go to the query definition in the BEx Query Designer and check the settings for the variables. Ensure that they are configured correctly, and consider providing default values if they are mandatory.
    4. Test the Query: Run the query directly in the BEx Analyzer or Query Designer to see if it executes successfully without the workbook. This can help identify if the issue is with the query itself.
    5. Check Data Source Availability: Ensure that the data source (InfoProvider) is available and that there are no issues with the underlying data.
    6. Review Workbook Configuration: Check the workbook configuration for any errors or misconfigurations. Ensure that it is correctly linked to the appropriate queries.
