  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSPLS_CR039 - InfoProvider '&1' is not writeable; input not possible ?

The SAP error message RSPLS_CR039 indicates that the specified InfoProvider (denoted as '&1') is not writable, which means that you cannot input data into it. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BW/4HANA when trying to perform data input operations, such as planning or data entry.

    Causes:

    1. InfoProvider Configuration: The InfoProvider may not be configured to allow write access. This can happen if it is set up as a read-only object.
    2. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to write to the InfoProvider.
    3. Data Model Type: The InfoProvider might be of a type that does not support write operations (e.g., a standard InfoCube that is not set up for planning).
    4. Data Locking: The InfoProvider could be locked for data entry due to ongoing processes or data loads.
    5. Incorrect Planning Sequence: If you are using planning functions, the sequence of operations may not allow writing to the InfoProvider at that moment.

    Solutions:

    1. Check InfoProvider Settings:

      • Go to the InfoProvider settings in the SAP BW system and verify that it is configured to allow write access. This can be done in the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction RSA1).
      • Ensure that the InfoProvider is set up correctly for planning if that is the intended use.
    2. Review Authorizations:

      • Check the user roles and authorizations to ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to write to the InfoProvider. This can be done using transaction SU53 to analyze authorization issues.
    3. Change Data Model Type:

      • If the InfoProvider is not intended for planning, consider using a different type of InfoProvider that supports write operations, such as a planning-enabled InfoCube or a DataStore Object (DSO).
    4. Unlock the InfoProvider:

      • If the InfoProvider is locked, check for any ongoing processes that might be causing the lock. You may need to wait for these processes to complete or manually unlock the InfoProvider if appropriate.
    5. Check Planning Sequence:

      • Ensure that the planning sequence or function you are using is correctly set up and that it allows writing to the InfoProvider at the time you are trying to input data.
