SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: RSPLS - General Messages

  • Message number: 514

  • Message text: Data field &1 in DataStore object &2 not allowed in aggregation level &3

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

'&V1&' is a characteristic or a unit characteristic in the data part of
DataStore object '&V2&'. '&V1&' is also used in the aggregation level.
    This is not supported.

    System Response

Aggregation level '&V3&' is inconsistent and cannot be activated.

    How to fix this error?

If '&V1&' is a unit characteristic<(>,<)> move the unit characteristic
to the key part of DataStore object '&V2&'. It will then be possible to
use the unit characteristic in aggregation level '&V3&'.
If '&V1&' is not a unit characteristic<(>,<)> and is just a normal
characteristic from the data part of DataStore object '&V2&'<(>,<)> it
cannot be used in aggregation level '&V3&'. In the DataStore object
maintenance transaction RSDODS<(>,<)> you can flag a normal
characteristic as a key figure. The corresponding key figure can then be
used as a key figure in aggregation level '&V3&'.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSPLS514 - Data field &1 in DataStore object &2 not allowed in aggregation level &3 ?

The SAP error message RSPLS514 indicates that there is an issue with the data field being used in an aggregation level for a DataStore object (DSO). Specifically, it means that the data field you are trying to use is not allowed in the specified aggregation level. This can occur in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to create or modify an aggregation level that includes fields that are not compatible with the aggregation process.

    Cause:

    1. Field Compatibility: The field you are trying to include in the aggregation level is not compatible with the aggregation rules defined for that level. This could be due to the field being a non-aggregatable field (e.g., a characteristic that cannot be summarized).
    2. DataStore Object Configuration: The DataStore object may not be configured to allow certain fields to be used in aggregation levels.
    3. Field Type: The data type of the field may not support aggregation (e.g., text fields or certain calculated fields).

    Solution:

    1. Check Field Properties: Review the properties of the data field in the DataStore object. Ensure that it is a characteristic that can be aggregated.
    2. Modify Aggregation Level: If the field is not suitable for aggregation, consider removing it from the aggregation level or replacing it with a compatible field.
    3. Review Aggregation Logic: Ensure that the aggregation logic defined for the aggregation level aligns with the fields being used. You may need to adjust the logic to accommodate the fields you want to include.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on which fields can be used in aggregation levels for your version of SAP BW.

    Related Information:

    • SAP BW Documentation: Check the official SAP Help Portal for detailed information on DataStore objects and aggregation levels.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums to see if others have encountered similar issues and how they resolved them.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to manage and configure DataStore objects and aggregation levels.
