SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: RSPLS - General Messages

  • Message number: 144

  • Message text: Aggregation level &1: InfoObject &2 requires &3 in the key (compounding)

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Aggregation level '&V1&' contains compounded characteristic '&V2&'. The
aggregation level is based on DataStore object '&V4&' or on a
CompositeProvider (like a MultiProvider) that includes DataStore object
'&V4&'. Characteristic '&V2&' is in the key part of DataStore object '
&V4&'. The compounding parent '&V3&' therefore also has to be in the key
part of DataStore object '&V4&'. This is not the case.

    System Response

Aggregation level '&V1&' is inconsistent and cannot be activated.

    How to fix this error?

Adjust DataStore object '&V4&' so that all compounding parents are also
in the key part if there is a compounded characteristic in the key part.
When you have done this, aggregation level '&V1&' also has to contain
    characteristic '&V3&'.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSPLS144 - Aggregation level &1: InfoObject &2 requires &3 in the key (compounding) ?

The SAP error message RSPLS144 indicates that there is an issue with the aggregation level configuration in SAP BW (Business Warehouse). Specifically, it points out that a certain InfoObject (denoted as &2) requires another InfoObject (denoted as &3) to be included in the key of the aggregation level (denoted as &1) due to compounding rules.

    Cause:

    1. Compounding Requirement: The error typically arises when you have defined a compounded characteristic in your InfoObjects. A compounded characteristic is one that is dependent on another characteristic. For example, if you have a characteristic "City" that is compounded with "Country", then "Country" must be included in the key of any aggregation level that uses "City".

    2. Aggregation Level Configuration: The aggregation level may not have been configured correctly to include all necessary InfoObjects that are required due to compounding.

    Solution:

    1. Check Compounding: Review the InfoObjects involved. Identify the compounded InfoObject (e.g., &2) and the InfoObject it is compounded with (e.g., &3). Ensure that the aggregation level includes all necessary InfoObjects in its key.

    2. Modify Aggregation Level:

      • Go to the Aggregation Level definition in the SAP BW system.
      • Add the required InfoObject (&3) to the key of the aggregation level if it is missing.
      • Save the changes and activate the aggregation level.
    3. Recheck Queries: After making changes to the aggregation level, check any queries that use this aggregation level to ensure they are functioning correctly.

    4. Transport Changes: If you are working in a development environment, ensure that any changes are transported to the appropriate environments (e.g., QA, Production) as needed.

    Related Information:

    • Compounding in SAP BW: Compounding allows you to create a hierarchy of characteristics, which can help in organizing data more effectively. Understanding how compounding works is crucial for proper data modeling in BW.

    • Aggregation Levels: Aggregation levels are used in SAP BW to define how data is aggregated for reporting purposes. They determine which characteristics and key figures are included in the data model.

    • SAP BW Documentation: For more detailed information, refer to the official SAP BW documentation or help resources, which provide insights into best practices for defining InfoObjects and aggregation levels.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSPLS144 error and ensure that your aggregation levels are correctly configured to meet the requirements of your data model.
