  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSO001 - InfoObject &1: active and revised version are different ?

The SAP error message RSO001 indicates that there is a discrepancy between the active version and the revised version of an InfoObject in the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) system. This typically occurs when changes have been made to the InfoObject but the active version has not been updated to reflect those changes.

    Cause:

    1. Version Discrepancy: The active version of the InfoObject is not in sync with the revised version. This can happen if changes were made to the InfoObject (like adding new attributes, changing data types, etc.) but the active version was not activated.
    2. Transport Issues: If the InfoObject was transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production), the active version may not have been updated correctly.
    3. Development and Production Environment: Changes made in the development environment may not have been properly transported or activated in the production environment.

    Solution:

    1. Activate the InfoObject:

      • Go to the InfoObject maintenance transaction (e.g., RSA1).
      • Find the InfoObject in question.
      • Check the versions and activate the revised version to ensure it becomes the active version.
    2. Check Transport Requests:

      • If the InfoObject was transported, ensure that the transport request was completed successfully and that the active version is updated in the target system.
    3. Consistency Check:

      • Use the transaction RS_CHECK to perform a consistency check on the InfoObject. This can help identify any inconsistencies and provide guidance on how to resolve them.
    4. Recreate the InfoObject:

      • In some cases, if the InfoObject is severely corrupted or inconsistent, it may be necessary to recreate it. This should be done with caution and typically as a last resort.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific version of SAP BW you are using, as there may be specific patches or updates that address this issue.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • RSA1: Data Warehousing Workbench
      • RSO1: InfoObject Maintenance
      • RS_CHECK: Consistency Check
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional insights or solutions for this specific error.
    • Version Management: Familiarize yourself with how version management works in SAP BW, including the process of activating and deactivating InfoObjects.
