Choose the <LS>Full Update</> update mode or write the request to a
DataStore object first and then update it to the required InfoCube.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM1112 - DataSource &2 cannot be updated in an InfoCube ?

The SAP error message RSM1112 indicates that a specific DataSource cannot be updated in an InfoCube. This error typically arises in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there are issues with data loading or data extraction processes.

    Cause:

    1. DataSource Configuration: The DataSource may not be properly configured for the target InfoCube. This can happen if the DataSource is not compatible with the structure of the InfoCube.
    2. DataSource Activation: The DataSource might not be activated or might be in a state that prevents it from being used for data loading.
    3. InfoCube Status: The InfoCube may be in a status that does not allow data updates, such as being in a "locked" state or not being set up for data loading.
    4. Data Transfer Process (DTP) Issues: There may be issues with the Data Transfer Process that is responsible for moving data from the DataSource to the InfoCube.
    5. Data Model Changes: Changes in the data model, such as changes to the InfoCube structure or the DataSource, can lead to incompatibility issues.

    Solution:

    1. Check DataSource Configuration: Verify that the DataSource is correctly configured and compatible with the InfoCube. Ensure that the fields in the DataSource match the fields in the InfoCube.
    2. Activate DataSource: If the DataSource is not activated, activate it in the SAP BW system.
    3. Check InfoCube Status: Ensure that the InfoCube is in a state that allows data updates. If it is locked, you may need to unlock it or check for any ongoing processes that might be preventing updates.
    4. Review Data Transfer Process (DTP): Check the DTP settings and ensure that it is correctly configured to load data from the DataSource to the InfoCube. Look for any errors in the DTP execution logs.
    5. Recreate DTP: If issues persist, consider recreating the DTP to ensure that it is set up correctly.
    6. Check for Data Model Changes: If there have been recent changes to the data model, ensure that all related objects (DataSource, InfoCube, DTP) are updated accordingly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to check the configuration of DataSources and InfoCubes.
