  • What causes this issue?

You are trying to start an init. selection with selection conditions
that overlaps with the selection conditions of the init. selection from
    request &V1&.
This init. selection was successful in the source system.
If you want to request the transferred data again (without executing
the init. selection in the source system a second time) you have to use
the complete selections from the init. selection for request &V1&.
Transfer the selection choosing the menu 'Scheduler'-> 'Initialization
Selection for Source System', select all the entries for which you want
to reload init. data, and chose the pushbutton 'Transfer Selections
    into the Scheduler' (F7).
This transfers the selection conditions to your InfoPackage.
An overlap of the selection conditions was found in the field name &V2&
    for the From-value &V3& and the To-value &V4&.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM1064 - Init. selection already used in request &1 ?

The SAP error message RSM1064 ("Init. selection already used in request &1") typically occurs in the context of data extraction processes, particularly when working with SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence). This error indicates that the initialization selection for a data request has already been used in a previous request, and therefore cannot be reused.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Initialization: The error arises when you attempt to initialize a data source that has already been initialized in a previous request. In SAP BW, initialization is a process where the data is loaded for the first time from the source system into the data warehouse.
    2. Request Overlap: If you are trying to run multiple requests that use the same initialization selection, the system will prevent this to maintain data integrity and consistency.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing Requests: Review the requests that have already been executed. You can do this by going to the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction code RSA1) and checking the request logs for the InfoProvider in question.
    2. Use a New Initialization: If you need to perform a new initialization, ensure that you are using a different selection or that the previous request has been completed and is no longer in a processing state.
    3. Delete or Manage Old Requests: If the previous request is no longer needed, you can delete it or manage it appropriately to free up the initialization selection for new requests.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to your specific version of SAP BW/BI for any additional guidelines or best practices regarding initialization requests.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may find it useful to familiarize yourself with transaction codes such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), RSMO (Monitor Data Load), and RSPC (Process Chain Maintenance) for managing data loads and requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. You can search for relevant notes in the SAP Support Portal.
    • Data Load Process: Understanding the data load process in SAP BW, including the concepts of initialization, delta loads, and request management, can help prevent this error in the future.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, consider reaching out to your SAP Basis or BW support team for further assistance.
