- Initialization for Data Source &1 Can Not Be Deleted in Source System &2 ?The SAP error message RSM1057, which states "Initialization for Data Source &1 Can Not Be Deleted in Source System &2," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there is an issue with the initialization of a data source. This error can arise during the process of data extraction from a source system, particularly when trying to delete or reset the initialization for a data source that is still in use or has dependencies.
Causes:
- Active Data Source: The data source you are trying to delete or reset is still active or has been used in a data load process.
- Open Requests: There may be open requests or data loads that are still referencing the data source.
- Inconsistent State: The data source might be in an inconsistent state due to previous errors during data extraction or initialization.
- Authorization Issues: Lack of proper authorizations to delete or modify the data source in the source system.
Solutions:
- Check Active Data Loads: Ensure that there are no active data loads or requests that are using the data source. You can check the status of data loads in the SAP BW system.
- Reset Initialization: If you need to reset the initialization, ensure that you have completed all previous data loads and that the data source is not in use.
- Delete Requests: If there are open requests, consider deleting them or completing them before attempting to delete the initialization.
- Check for Dependencies: Review any dependencies that the data source may have with other objects in the system. Ensure that these dependencies are resolved.
- Authorization Check: Verify that you have the necessary authorizations to perform the deletion or modification of the data source.
- Use Transaction RSA1: Go to the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction RSA1) and check the data source for any inconsistencies or issues. You can also try to reinitialize the data source if necessary.
