  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The system was unable to delete all of the master data, because some of
the master data is still being used.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

First, delete the master data from the places where it is still being
used (for example, in InfoCubes, as an attribute, in a hierarchy).
Refer to the application log: Transaction slg1, object RSDMD,
sub-object MD_DEL. The application log contains a list showing you
whether the master data has been deleted or if it is still in use, and
if so where it is being used. The list is complete only when you
confirm that you want to delete all the master data that is in use.
When you have checked each case where master data is in use, try the
    deletion process again.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDMD112 - Not all master data can be deleted ?

The SAP error message RSDMD112, which states "Not all master data can be deleted," typically occurs when you attempt to delete master data in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) and there are dependencies or references that prevent the deletion of certain master data records.

    Causes:

    1. Active Data Dependencies: The master data you are trying to delete may be actively used in InfoObjects, queries, or other data models. If there are active references to the master data in the system, it cannot be deleted.

    2. Data in InfoProviders: The master data might be linked to InfoProviders (like InfoCubes or DataStore Objects) that contain data. If the master data is being used in any of these InfoProviders, it cannot be deleted.

    3. Hierarchy Dependencies: If the master data is part of a hierarchy, you may not be able to delete it until the hierarchy is adjusted or the master data is removed from the hierarchy.

    4. Open Transactions: There may be open transactions or processes that are using the master data, preventing its deletion.

    5. Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to delete certain master data.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Dependencies: Before attempting to delete master data, check for any dependencies. You can use transaction codes like RSD1 (to view InfoObjects) or RSA1 (to view the data model) to identify where the master data is being used.

    2. Remove References: If the master data is being used in queries, InfoProviders, or hierarchies, you will need to remove those references first. This may involve:

      • Deleting or modifying queries that use the master data.
      • Adjusting or removing the master data from hierarchies.
      • Deleting data from InfoProviders that reference the master data.
    3. Data Cleanup: If the master data is linked to existing data in InfoProviders, you may need to delete or archive that data before you can delete the master data.

    4. Check Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete the master data. If not, contact your SAP administrator to grant the required permissions.

    5. Use Transaction RSD1: You can use transaction RSD1 to check the master data and see if there are any issues or dependencies that need to be resolved.

    6. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or support notes for specific guidance related to your version of SAP BW/BI.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSA1, RSD1, and RSD2 for managing master data and InfoObjects.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums for insights and solutions from other users who may have encountered similar issues.
