Message text: Utilization check of shared memory in BW Accelerator
This check examines the usage and percentage usage of the shared memory
in your SAP NetWeaver BI Accelerator. It also checks whether the
capacity of the shared memory on all blades is set equally. The amount
of remaining free memory is specified as a percentage of the total
memory. If the amount of free memory is less than 30% of the total
memory, the check message is given a warning status (<ZK>yellow</>). If
this amount is less than 25%, the check message is given an error status
(<ZK>red</>).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
The system tries to solve the problem automatically by executing one of
various actions; for example, by deleting objects that are no longer
used from the memory. If the system cannot solve the problem
automatically, it prompts you to increase the shared memory if the
shared memory requires more capacity.
If the check identifies that a different amount of memory is allocated
to the shared memory on each of the blades, you are prompted to adjust
the amount of memory allocated to the shared memory on each blade so
that there is an equal amount on each blade.

RSDD_ZA153
- Utilization check of shared memory in BW Accelerator ?The SAP error message RSDD_ZA153 indicates an issue related to the utilization check of shared memory in the BW Accelerator (Business Warehouse Accelerator). This error typically arises when the BW Accelerator is unable to allocate the necessary memory for processing queries or data requests, which can lead to performance issues or failures in executing queries.
Cause:
- Memory Limitations: The BW Accelerator may be running out of available shared memory, which can occur due to high query loads or insufficient memory allocation.
- Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings for the BW Accelerator or the underlying database can lead to memory allocation problems.
- Data Volume: Large volumes of data being processed or queried can exceed the available memory resources.
- System Resource Contention: Other processes or applications running on the same server may be consuming memory resources, leading to insufficient memory for the BW Accelerator.
Solution:
- Monitor Memory Usage: Use monitoring tools to check the current memory utilization of the BW Accelerator. Identify if the memory is indeed maxed out.
- Increase Memory Allocation: If the BW Accelerator is consistently running out of memory, consider increasing the memory allocation for the BW Accelerator. This can be done through the configuration settings in the SAP BW system.
- Optimize Queries: Review and optimize the queries being executed. Reducing the complexity of queries or limiting the data being processed can help alleviate memory pressure.
- Adjust Configuration Settings: Ensure that the configuration settings for the BW Accelerator are optimized for your specific workload. This may include adjusting parameters related to memory allocation and query processing.
- Check for System Contention: Investigate other applications or processes running on the same server that may be consuming memory resources. If possible, allocate more resources to the BW Accelerator or move other processes to different servers.
- Update Software: Ensure that you are running the latest version of the BW Accelerator and that all relevant patches have been applied. Sometimes, performance issues can be resolved with software updates.
