  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDD013 - Change run is running or has been terminated. Activation not possible. ?

The SAP error message RSDD013 indicates that a change run is currently in progress or has been terminated, which prevents the activation of certain objects in the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) environment. This error typically occurs when you attempt to activate a DataSource, InfoObject, or other BW objects while a change run is still active or has not completed successfully.

    Causes:

    1. Active Change Run: A change run is currently processing, which means that the system is busy with other tasks related to data loading or activation.
    2. Terminated Change Run: A previous change run may have been terminated unexpectedly, leaving the system in a state where it cannot proceed with new activations.
    3. Locking Issues: There may be locks on the objects you are trying to activate due to ongoing processes or transactions.
    4. System Performance: High system load or performance issues may cause the change run to take longer than expected.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Change Run Status:

      • Go to transaction RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench).
      • Navigate to the "Change Run" section and check if there are any active change runs.
      • If a change run is active, you may need to wait for it to complete.
    2. Terminate Stuck Change Runs:

      • If you find that a change run has been terminated and is stuck, you can manually terminate it.
      • Use transaction SM37 to check for background jobs related to the change run and terminate any that are stuck.
    3. Release Locks:

      • If there are locks on the objects, you can use transaction SM12 to check for and release any locks that may be preventing activation.
    4. System Monitoring:

      • Monitor system performance and ensure that there are no underlying issues causing delays in the change run process.
    5. Retry Activation:

      • After ensuring that there are no active change runs and that locks have been released, try to activate the object again.
