  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDA148 - The data area to be archived is not yet fully compressed ?

The SAP error message RSDA148 indicates that the data area you are trying to archive has not been fully compressed. This typically occurs in the context of data archiving processes in SAP, particularly when dealing with the Data Archiving (DA) process for InfoObjects in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or other data management scenarios.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is that the data in the specified data area has not been completely compressed. In SAP BW, data is often stored in a compressed format to save space and improve performance. If the compression process has not been completed, the archiving process cannot proceed.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSDA148 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Compression Status:

      • Verify the compression status of the data area. You can do this by checking the relevant InfoProvider or data store object (DSO) in the SAP BW system.
      • Use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to navigate to the InfoProvider and check its status.
    2. Compress the Data:

      • If the data is not compressed, you need to perform the compression. This can typically be done using the following steps:
        • Go to the Data Warehousing Workbench (RSA1).
        • Navigate to the relevant InfoProvider.
        • Right-click on the InfoProvider and select the option to compress the data.
      • Alternatively, you can use the transaction code RSBATCH to run the compression in batch mode.
    3. Retry Archiving:

      • Once the data has been successfully compressed, you can retry the archiving process that triggered the RSDA148 error.
    4. Check for Other Issues:

      • If the problem persists, ensure that there are no other underlying issues, such as data inconsistencies or locks on the data area that might prevent compression or archiving.
