Message text: Automatic numbering failed; no item numbers free
During the automatic numbering procedure, the system attempts to assign
a lower, unassigned item number above the insert item. If you have
added a new item under the last item, the system attempts to assign a
higher, unassigned item number.
This assignment was unsuccessful.
Examples:
Business transactions with the item numbers 5, 10, and 15 exist in a
stage. Five new business transactions are inserted between items 10 and
15. However, as the result of the automatic numbering procedure, only
numbers 11 to 14 can be assigned. The automatic numbering procedure is
unsuccessful.
Business transaction 9999 exists in a stage. A new business transaction
is added. No item numbers higher than 9999 can be assigned. The
automatic numbering procedure is unsuccessful.
The item numbers could not be numbered automatically by the system.
Increase the item number of the exisiting busines transactions in such
a way that a sufficient number of free item numbers are available when
business transactions are to be inserted, for example, 10, 20, and 30.
Decrease the item number of the last business transaction in such a way
that a sufficient number of free item numbers are available when
business transactions are to be added. Decrease the item number to
9998, for example.
Confirm the item numbers for the business transactions that have been
added or inserted.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
