Message text: Deletion is not possible; formula is recipe-dependent
The usage of dependent formulas has been activated in Customizing for
the recipe type of the recipe you selected (see
<DS:DE.PVS_REMTCTRL_FORM>Formula assign.</> indicator). For this
reason, the formula was created when the recipe was created and thus is
an integral part of the recipe. You cannot delete the assignment.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Make the required changes in the formula assigned. The formula is only
used in the current recipe.

RMSRCP053
- Deletion is not possible; formula is recipe-dependent ?The SAP error message RMSRCP053, which states "Deletion is not possible; formula is recipe-dependent," typically occurs in the context of SAP Recipe Management (RMS) when you attempt to delete a formula or recipe that is still being referenced by other recipes or processes. This is a safeguard to prevent the accidental deletion of important data that is still in use.
Cause:
- Recipe Dependency: The formula you are trying to delete is linked to one or more recipes. In SAP, recipes can depend on other recipes or formulas, and if there are dependencies, the system will not allow deletion to maintain data integrity.
- Active Usage: The formula may be actively used in production or planning processes, which prevents its deletion.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Check Dependencies:
- Use the SAP transaction code
RMS1
orRMS2
to check the dependencies of the formula. Look for any recipes that reference the formula you are trying to delete.- You can also use the "Where-Used List" functionality to identify where the formula is being used.
Remove Dependencies:
- If you find that the formula is being used in other recipes, you will need to either:
- Modify those recipes to remove the dependency on the formula.
- Replace the formula in those recipes with another formula if applicable.
Deactivate or Archive:
- If the formula is no longer needed, consider deactivating it instead of deleting it. This can often be done through the recipe management interface.
- Alternatively, you may want to archive the formula if it is not in use but you want to keep it for historical purposes.
Consult Documentation:
- Review the SAP documentation or help files related to Recipe Management for more detailed instructions on handling dependencies and deletions.
Contact Support:
- If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide guidance based on your specific system configuration.
