Message text: Decoupled confirmation not possible for documentary batches
<DS:GLOS.8773AEF27A0060459645018C2FDD1BB0>Documentary batches</> must be
entered for a component of the BOM.
Because you cannot enter documentary batches for separate confirmation
for further postings in the background, the system does not allow you to
save.
It is not possible to save the confirmation because:
The use of documentary batches has been activated in Customizing for
<ZK>Batch Management </>(<DS:SIMG.VBDOCUBATCH_OMCDB>Activate
Documentary Batch</>)
Documentary batches must be entered for at least one component in the
BOM
In other words, in Customizing for <ZK>Batch Management</> under
<ZK>Documentary Batch</> you have defined that documentary batches must
be entered for the <DS:SIMG.V_T134_DOCUBATCH>material type</>, the
<DS:SIMG.TCUDB_PROCESS>process step</> or you have made this setting in
the <DS:SIMG.DOCUBATCH_PRODUCT>Business Add-In</>.
In Customizing for <ZK>Repetitive Manufacturing </>for the
<DS:DE.CO_PRZST>Control Confirmation Process</>, you have specified
separate confirmation
(<DS:SIMG.SIMG_CFMENUOPP3OSP2>Define Repetitive Manufacturing
Profiles</>)
To post the confirmation for materials that must be managed in
documentary batches, you must:
Use a different confirmation process control in repetitive manufacturing
( <DS:SIMG.SIMG_CFMENUOPP3OPKD>Define Confirmation Processes</>)
Or when confirming in the detail screen (@D4@ <LS>Detail</>) for
<DS:DE.CO_PWAUS>Backflushing</> and
<DS:DE.CO_PWAUS>Actual Cost Determination</> choose the value
' ' (<LS>Immediately in the Dialog</>).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RM894
- Decoupled confirmation not possible for documentary batches ?The SAP error message RM894, which states "Decoupled confirmation not possible for documentary batches," typically occurs in the context of batch management and production processes. This error is related to the handling of documentary batches in SAP, particularly when trying to perform a confirmation that is not allowed due to the nature of the batch.
Cause:
Batch Type: The error often arises when you are trying to confirm a production order or a process order that involves a documentary batch. Documentary batches are used for tracking and managing batches that require specific documentation or regulatory compliance.
Decoupled Confirmation: This type of confirmation is used when the confirmation of production activities is separated from the actual goods movement. However, for documentary batches, the system may not allow this separation due to the need for strict compliance and traceability.
Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the batch management or production order settings that prevent decoupled confirmations for certain types of batches.
Solution:
Check Batch Characteristics: Ensure that the batch you are trying to confirm is not a documentary batch or that it is being handled correctly according to your business processes.
Use Standard Confirmation: Instead of attempting a decoupled confirmation, try performing a standard confirmation that includes both the production activities and the goods movement.
Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings in the SAP system related to batch management and production orders. Ensure that the settings allow for the type of confirmation you are trying to perform.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources related to batch management and confirmation processes to understand the specific requirements for documentary batches.
Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for further assistance. They may provide insights specific to your system configuration and business processes.
Related Information:
Batch Management: Understanding how batch management works in SAP is crucial. This includes knowing the different types of batches (e.g., regular, documentary) and their implications on production and inventory processes.
Production Order Confirmation: Familiarize yourself with the different types of confirmations available in SAP, including standard confirmations and decoupled confirmations, and when to use each.
Regulatory Compliance: If your organization operates in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, food and beverage), ensure that your processes align with compliance requirements, as this may affect how batches are managed and confirmed.
By addressing the causes and following the suggested solutions, you should be able to resolve the RM894 error and proceed with your production processes effectively.
