  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message REMPT354 - Planned orders for material & could not be converted ?

The SAP error message REMPT354 indicates that planned orders for a specific material could not be converted into production orders. This issue can arise due to various reasons, and understanding the cause is essential for finding a solution. Here are some common causes, potential solutions, and related information:

    Causes:

    1. Missing Master Data: The material master data or the bill of materials (BOM) may be incomplete or missing. This includes missing routing information or production versions.

    2. Capacity Constraints: There may be capacity issues in the work centers where the production orders are supposed to be scheduled. If the work center is overloaded or not available, the planned order cannot be converted.

    3. Status of Planned Orders: The planned orders may be in a status that does not allow conversion. For example, if the planned order is already partially converted or has been deleted.

    4. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the production planning module that prevent the conversion of planned orders.

    5. Material Availability: If the required components for the planned order are not available in sufficient quantities, the conversion may fail.

    6. Order Type Issues: The order type used for the planned order may not be configured correctly for conversion.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Master Data: Ensure that the material master, BOM, and routing are correctly set up. Verify that all necessary data is available and accurate.

    2. Review Capacity Planning: Check the capacity of the work centers involved. If there are capacity constraints, consider rescheduling or adjusting the production plan.

    3. Check Planned Order Status: Review the status of the planned orders. If they are in a status that prevents conversion, you may need to change the status or create a new planned order.

    4. Configuration Review: Consult with your SAP configuration team to ensure that the settings for production order conversion are correctly configured.

    5. Material Availability Check: Use transaction codes like MD04 (Stock/Requirements List) to check the availability of components required for the planned order. Ensure that all necessary materials are available.

    6. Order Type Configuration: Verify that the order type used for the planned order is correctly set up for conversion. This may involve checking the configuration in the customizing settings.
