Message text: Switching digital signature generation back on is not legally permitted
You have switched digital signature generation back on for a number
range interval or a company code. Previously, digital signature
generation had been switched on and then switched off for this number
range interval or company code.
If digital signatures were created for this number range interval or
company code while it was switched on, the following applies:
It was not legally permitted to switch off digital signature generation.
The law states that you must not stop digitally signing documents that
use this number range interval.
If you switch digital signature generation back on, this may lead to
inconsistencies in the database and a gap in digital signatures for this
number range interval (that is, some documents that use the number range
interval will not have digital signatures).
SAP is not responsible for the impact of stopping digital signature
generation.
<ZU>Note:</>
The system detects the deactivation of a company code as a 'switch off'
(deletion from the digital signature customizing as relevant). The
switch back on for this company code is legally prohibited.
If you do not reverse the change, the user will be able to post
documents with this document type, but the documents will not have
digital signatures. This is not legally compliant. It is not possible to
create digital signatures retroactively.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
You have the following options:
If digital signature generation had already started for this number
range interval and documents were posted while digital signature
generation was switched off, reverse the change (that is, switch digital
signature generation off again).
Create a new number range interval for which digital signature
generation is switched on. Note that to avoid inconsistencies in the
database, you must use a different combination of leading document type
and series.
If no documents were posted for this number range interval while digital
signature generation was switched off, you can leave it switched on.
It is not possible to activate a company code again if it was
deactivated to generate digital signatures. You must create and use a
new company code.
