R7554
- Navigation attribute &1 deleted from characteristic &2 ?The SAP error message R7554, which states "Navigation attribute &1 deleted from characteristic &2," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when there is an issue with the navigation attributes of a characteristic in a data model or InfoObject.
Cause:
- Deletion of Navigation Attribute: The error usually indicates that a navigation attribute (e.g., a characteristic that provides additional context to another characteristic) has been deleted from the characteristic definition. This can happen due to changes in the data model or InfoObject configuration.
- Inconsistent Data Model: If the navigation attribute was removed but still referenced in queries, reports, or other data models, it can lead to inconsistencies and trigger this error.
- Transport Issues: If changes were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production) and the navigation attribute was not included in the transport, it may lead to this error.
Solution:
- Check Characteristic Definition: Go to the InfoObject maintenance (transaction
RSD1
) and check the definition of the characteristic (&2
). Ensure that the navigation attribute (&1
) is still defined and correctly configured.- Re-add Navigation Attribute: If the navigation attribute was unintentionally deleted, you can re-add it to the characteristic. Make sure to activate the InfoObject after making changes.
- Update Queries and Reports: If the navigation attribute is no longer needed, ensure that any queries, reports, or data models that reference it are updated accordingly to remove the dependency.
- Transport Consistency: If the issue arose due to transport, ensure that all relevant objects are included in the transport request and that the transport is executed correctly in the target system.
- Check for Dependencies: Review any dependent objects (like queries, transformations, or data flows) that might be affected by the deletion of the navigation attribute and adjust them as necessary.
