  • What causes this issue?

The update of a role is controlled in table BUT100 through the
    assignment of a role category.
Processes that require a role to exist for a business partner and that
make use of this role, access this role via the assigned role category.
This means, on the one hand, that all the roles assigned to a role
category must be updated. On the other hand, roles that are not updated
cannot be used in processes or programs.
