Message text: BP role selections are mutually exclusive
An error occurred when delimiting the work area for BP role definition
maintenance.
There are two selection criteria that apply to the role.
Role selection 1 (selection criterion 1)
Only those role definition categories are used for maintenance that
require roles for business partner 1 or 2 that correspond to role
selection 1 in the semantic check for BP role.
Role selection 2 (selection criterion 2)
Role definitions of a category can be further differentiated with a
role. Only maintain those role definitions whose differentiation role
category corresponds to role selection 2.
The role category for differentiating the role definition must be one
of the possible roles for the semantic check of the role for business
partner 1.
Both role selections prevent any one role definition from fulfilling
both selections.
Error message
Make your role selections in such a way that at least one role matches
both selection criteria.

- BP role selections are mutually exclusive ?The SAP error message R1743, which states "BP role selections are mutually exclusive," typically occurs when there is a conflict in the Business Partner (BP) roles that you are trying to assign to a Business Partner in the SAP system. This error indicates that the roles you are attempting to assign cannot coexist due to their mutually exclusive nature.
Cause:
The error arises when you try to assign multiple roles to a Business Partner that are not compatible with each other. For example, if you are trying to assign both a "Customer" role and a "Vendor" role to the same Business Partner, the system will throw this error because a single entity cannot be both a customer and a vendor in the same context.
Solution:

Review Assigned Roles: Check the roles that you are trying to assign to the Business Partner. Identify which roles are mutually exclusive.
Remove Conflicting Roles: If you find that you are trying to assign conflicting roles, you will need to remove one of the roles from the Business Partner. Decide which role is appropriate based on your business requirements.
Create Separate Business Partners: If the Business Partner needs to have both roles (e.g., as a customer and a vendor), consider creating two separate Business Partners—one for each role.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or configuration guides for the specific roles you are working with to understand their compatibility and any restrictions.
Check Customizations: If your organization has customized the Business Partner roles, ensure that the customizations do not introduce additional conflicts.
