Message text: Unit & cannot be converted in header unit of measure &
When an inspection lot is created with this plan, the system must be
able to convert the sample unit into the corresponding material unit of
measure. This is not dependent on the conversion of the sample unit
into the unit of the plan header.
Since the sample unit cannot be converted into the unit of the plan
header, it is possible that you have made an entry error.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

QP505
- Unit & cannot be converted in header unit of measure & ?The SAP error message QP505 indicates that there is an issue with the conversion of units of measure (UoM) in the context of quality management (QM) processes. Specifically, it suggests that the system is unable to convert the unit of measure specified in the header of a quality inspection lot or related document.
Cause:
- Unit of Measure Configuration: The unit of measure defined in the material master or inspection lot may not have a valid conversion factor to the unit of measure expected in the header.
- Missing Conversion Factors: There may be missing or incorrect conversion factors between the units of measure in the system.
- Inconsistent UoM Settings: The unit of measure settings in the material master, inspection plan, or quality inspection lot may not be consistent or correctly defined.
- Data Entry Errors: There could be a typographical error in the unit of measure entered in the header or related documents.
Solution:
- Check Material Master: Verify the unit of measure settings in the material master (transaction code MM03). Ensure that the base unit of measure and any alternative units of measure are correctly defined and that conversion factors are set up properly.
- Review Inspection Plan: Check the inspection plan associated with the inspection lot to ensure that the units of measure used are consistent and correctly defined.
- Conversion Factors: Go to the transaction code CUNI (Unit of Measure Conversion) to check if the conversion factors between the units of measure are defined correctly. If not, you may need to create or adjust the conversion factors.
- Inspect Lot Header: Review the header of the inspection lot to ensure that the unit of measure is entered correctly and matches the expected values.
- Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance.
