Cause:
The error can occur due to several reasons, including:
- Serial Number Not Assigned: The serial number you are trying to use may not be assigned to the material in the inspection lot.
- Inspection Lot Status: The inspection lot may be in a status that does not allow the use of the serial number (e.g., it may be completed or canceled).

Solution:
To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:
Check Serial Number Assignment:
- Verify that the serial number you are trying to use is correctly assigned to the material in the inspection lot. You can do this by checking the serial number assignment in the material master or the inspection lot details.
Review Inspection Lot Status:
- Check the status of the inspection lot. If it is completed or canceled, you may need to create a new inspection lot or change the status if possible.
Verify Material Master Settings:
- Ensure that the material master is set up for serial number management. Check the relevant views in the material master (e.g., Basic Data, Sales, and Plant Data) to confirm that serial number management is enabled.
Validate Serial Number:
- Make sure that the serial number you are using is valid and exists in the system. You can check this in the serial number management transactions (e.g., IQ01, IQ02).
Check Inspection Type:
