Message class: PU - Upgrade and Transport Log Messages
Message number: 371
Message text: Layer & already exists. Creating the new layer & (&,&).
Packages with the same integration and consolidation system are
combined to form transport layers.
During an upgrade, you attempted to create a transport layer named &V1&
for the integration system &V3& and the consolidation system &V4&.
However, it was determined that a transport layer with the name &V1&
already exists.
Therefore, the name &V2& has been selected for the new transport layer.
The SAP systems are connected by the transport system. For this reason,
the names of the transport layers must be the same in all SAP systems.
Check if the name of the transport layer with the
<DS:DE.INTSYS>integration system</> &V3& and the
<DS:DE.CONSYS>consolidation system </> &V4& is the same for all systems
in the group.
If you find differences, rename the <DS:DE.DEVLAYER>transport layer</>

- Layer & already exists. Creating the new layer & (&,&). ?The SAP error message PU371 indicates that there is an attempt to create a new layer in the system, but a layer with the same name already exists. This typically occurs in the context of SAP's transport management system or when working with enhancements and modifications in the system.
Cause:
- Existing Layer: The error arises when you try to create a new layer (for example, a new transport layer) that has the same name as an existing layer.
- Configuration Issues: There may be a misconfiguration in the transport layer settings or in the way the system is set up to handle layers.
- Development Environment: This can also happen in a development environment where multiple developers are trying to create layers simultaneously.
Solution:
- Check Existing Layers: Verify if the layer you are trying to create already exists. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction (like SE03 for transport management) and checking the list of existing layers.
- Use a Different Name: If the layer already exists, consider using a different name for the new layer you are trying to create.
- Delete or Modify Existing Layer: If the existing layer is no longer needed, you may delete it or modify it as per your requirements. Be cautious with this approach, as it may affect other configurations or transports.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to transport layers and enhancements to ensure you are following the correct procedures.
- Check Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to create or modify layers in the system.
