  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message PM275 - &1 is not a valid value; valid values are 0...5 ?

The SAP error message PM275 indicates that a value provided for a certain field is not valid. Specifically, the message states that the value you entered (represented by &1) is not acceptable, and it lists the valid range of values (0 to 5 in this case).

    Cause:

This error typically occurs in the context of Plant Maintenance (PM) when:

    1. A user is trying to enter a value in a field that has predefined valid values, and the entered value falls outside this range.
    2. The field may be expecting a specific type of input (e.g., a status code, priority level, etc.) that is limited to certain values.
    3. There may be a configuration issue where the valid values for the field have not been properly defined or updated.

    Solution:

To resolve the PM275 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check the Input Value: Ensure that the value you are trying to enter is indeed within the valid range (0 to 5). If it is not, correct it to one of the valid values.

    2. Review Field Requirements: Understand what the field is expecting. Consult the documentation or help text associated with the field to determine what each valid value represents.

    3. Configuration Review: If you believe the value you are entering should be valid, check the configuration settings in the SAP system:

      • Go to the relevant configuration transaction (e.g., SPRO) and navigate to the settings for the specific module or field.
      • Ensure that the valid values for the field are correctly defined.
    4. Consult with a Functional Consultant: If you are unsure about the valid values or how to configure them, it may be helpful to consult with an SAP functional consultant who specializes in Plant Maintenance.

    5. Check for User Exits or Enhancements: Sometimes, custom code or enhancements may affect the behavior of standard fields. Check if there are any user exits or enhancements that might be influencing the valid values.

    Related Information:

    • Field Documentation: Look for field documentation in SAP to understand the context and purpose of the field.
    • SAP Notes: Search for SAP Notes related to PM275 for any known issues or additional guidance.
