  • What causes this issue?

In infotype 1, person &V1& is assigned in the period &V2& - &V3& to a
business area which is inconsistent with your assignment in the
organizational structure. The business area of a person in the
organizational structure is determined by the business area of the
person's cost center. This is &V4&.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

When integration is active, as soon as a person is assigned to a cost
center, the system also transfers the business area of the cost center
to infotype 1 of the person (assuming the cost center has a business
area). Since the business areas are different, either the assignment
was made when integration was not active, or the business area in
infotype 1 was changed deliberately. If you want to transfer the
business area of the cost center, start report RHINTE30 for the person.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message PB346 - Business area in IT1 inconsistent with that in organizational management ?

The SAP error message PB346 indicates that there is an inconsistency between the business area specified in the IT1 (Infotype 1) record of an employee's master data and the business area defined in the Organizational Management (OM) structure. This typically occurs during actions such as hiring, transferring, or changing employee data.

    Cause:

    1. Data Mismatch: The business area assigned to the employee in their IT1 record does not match the business area defined in the Organizational Management (OM) structure for that employee's position or organizational unit.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The business area may not be correctly configured in the OM settings or may not be assigned to the relevant organizational units.
    3. Changes in Organizational Structure: If there have been recent changes in the organizational structure, such as reassignments or changes in business areas, this can lead to inconsistencies.
    4. Data Entry Errors: Manual data entry errors when updating employee records can also lead to this inconsistency.

    Solution:

    1. Check IT1 Record: Review the employee's IT1 record to ensure that the business area is correctly assigned. You can do this using transaction code PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data).
    2. Verify Organizational Management Data: Use transaction code PPOME (Display Organizational Structure) or PP01 (Maintain Organizational Plan) to check the business area assigned to the employee's position or organizational unit.
    3. Update Records: If there is a mismatch, update the IT1 record or the OM structure to ensure consistency. This may involve changing the business area in the IT1 record or adjusting the organizational unit's settings in OM.
    4. Consult with HR/OM Team: If you are unsure about the correct business area or how to make changes, consult with your HR or Organizational Management team for guidance.
    5. Run Consistency Checks: If available, run any consistency checks or reports that can help identify and resolve discrepancies in employee master data and organizational management.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data), PPOME (Display Organizational Structure), and PP01 (Maintain Organizational Plan).
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help files for detailed instructions on managing employee master data and organizational management settings.
    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to employee records and organizational structures.
    • Testing: After making changes, test the employee record to ensure that the error message no longer appears and that the data is consistent.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the PB346 error and ensure that the business area information is consistent across the employee's master data and the organizational management structure.
