  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message P5014 - Less that 2 numerical fields selected ?

The SAP error message P5014, which states "Less than 2 numerical fields selected," typically occurs in the context of reporting or data analysis within SAP systems, particularly when using tools like SAP Query or SAP BW (Business Warehouse). This error indicates that the system requires at least two numerical fields to perform a certain operation, such as calculations, aggregations, or comparisons.

    Cause:

    1. Insufficient Numerical Fields: The primary cause of this error is that the user has selected fewer than two numerical fields in a report or query. This can happen if the user is trying to create a report that requires multiple numerical inputs for calculations (e.g., sum, average) but has only selected one or none.
    2. Field Configuration: Sometimes, the fields that are expected to be numerical may not be correctly configured in the data source or query definition, leading the system to not recognize them as numerical fields.

    Solution:

    1. Select Additional Numerical Fields: To resolve the error, ensure that you select at least two numerical fields in your query or report. Review the available fields and add the necessary numerical fields to meet the requirement.
    2. Check Field Types: Verify that the fields you are selecting are indeed numerical. You can do this by checking the data dictionary or field properties in the SAP system to ensure they are defined as numerical types (e.g., INT, DEC).
    3. Modify Query/Report: If you are using a custom query or report, you may need to modify it to include additional numerical fields or adjust the logic to accommodate the requirement.
    4. Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about which fields to select, refer to the documentation or help resources related to the specific SAP module you are using, as they may provide guidance on the required fields for your specific reporting needs.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Query: If you are using SAP Query, familiarize yourself with the query design tools and how to select fields properly.
    • SAP BW: In SAP BW, ensure that your InfoObjects are correctly defined and that you are using the appropriate key figures in your queries.
    • User Training: If this error occurs frequently, consider providing training for users on how to create reports and queries effectively, including how to select the necessary fields.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or refer to SAP Notes for any specific patches or updates related to this error message.
