  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message OH046 - Group & is still in use ?

The SAP error message OH046 indicates that a specific group (in this case, a "group" could refer to a user group, authorization group, or similar entity) is still in use and cannot be deleted or modified. This typically occurs when there are still references to the group in the system, such as users assigned to it, or other dependencies that prevent its removal.

    Cause:

    1. Active Users: There are users currently assigned to the group.
    2. Dependencies: Other objects or configurations in the system are still referencing the group.
    3. Incomplete Deletion Process: The group may have been partially deleted or modified, leading to inconsistencies.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Assignments:

      • Go to the user management transaction (e.g., SU01) and check if there are any users assigned to the group.
      • If there are users, you will need to remove them from the group before you can delete or modify the group.
    2. Review Dependencies:

      • Check for any other objects that might be linked to the group. This could include roles, profiles, or other configurations.
      • Use transaction codes like SUIM (User Information System) to find users or roles associated with the group.
    3. Use Transaction Codes:

      • Use transaction code SU01 to manage users and check their assignments.
      • Use transaction code PFCG to check roles and their assignments to the group.
    4. Delete or Modify:

      • Once all dependencies and user assignments are cleared, you should be able to delete or modify the group without encountering the error.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • If you are unsure about the dependencies, consult SAP documentation or your system administrator for guidance on how to safely remove or modify groups.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SU01 (User Maintenance), SU10 (Mass User Maintenance), and PFCG (Role Maintenance).
    • Authorization Concepts: Understanding SAP's authorization concepts can help in managing groups and their dependencies effectively.
    • System Logs: Check system logs for any additional information related to the error message, which may provide insights into what is preventing the deletion or modification.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis team or SAP support for further assistance.
