  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message OC805 - Materials in this tank: base UoM &, UoM group & and conv.group & ?

The SAP error message OC805 typically relates to issues with materials in a tank, specifically concerning the base unit of measure (UoM), UoM group, and conversion group. This error can occur in various scenarios, such as during inventory management, production planning, or when performing transactions related to materials stored in tanks.

    Cause:

    1. Unit of Measure Issues: The error often arises when there is a mismatch or inconsistency in the unit of measure settings for the materials involved. This can happen if the base UoM of the material does not match the expected UoM for the tank or if the conversion factors are not properly defined.

    2. Configuration Problems: The UoM group or conversion group may not be correctly configured in the material master data, leading to discrepancies when trying to process transactions involving the tank.

    3. Material Master Data: The material master data for the items in the tank may be incomplete or incorrectly set up, particularly regarding UoM settings.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Master Data:

      • Go to the material master record (transaction code MM03) for the materials in question.
      • Verify the base unit of measure, UoM group, and conversion group settings. Ensure they are correctly defined and consistent with the tank's requirements.
    2. Review UoM Configuration:

      • Check the UoM configuration in the system (transaction code OMT3E) to ensure that the UoM groups and conversion factors are correctly set up.
      • Make sure that the conversion factors between different units of measure are defined properly.
    3. Adjust Tank Settings:

      • If applicable, review the settings for the tank itself (transaction code O4T1) to ensure that it is configured to accept the materials with the specified UoM.
    4. Test Transactions: After making the necessary adjustments, perform a test transaction to see if the error persists.

    5. Consult Documentation: If the issue continues, refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for further troubleshooting steps.
