  • What causes this issue?

You have either entered a material pressure value that lies outside the
recommended range specified in ISO 13443:1996(E) or the base pressure of
a target volume unit of measure or the base pressure defined in the
conversion group is outside this range. The valid range is:
    95 < pressure/kPa < 105 or approx.
    13.8 < pressure/PSI < 15.2

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    System Response

Depending on the system settings, the conversion will be terminated or
    can continue.

    How to fix this error?

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message O3318 - Material pressure or target volume reference pressure out of range ?

The SAP error message O3318, which states "Material pressure or target volume reference pressure out of range," typically occurs in the context of process engineering or production planning within SAP, particularly when dealing with materials that have specific pressure requirements.

    Cause:

This error usually arises due to one of the following reasons:

    1. Incorrect Pressure Values: The pressure values defined for the material or the target volume are outside the acceptable range set in the system. This could be due to incorrect data entry or configuration.

    2. Material Master Data Issues: The material master data may not be correctly configured, particularly in the views related to process engineering or production.

    3. Inconsistent Settings: There may be inconsistencies between the material's properties and the process parameters defined in the system.

    4. Unit of Measure Issues: The units of measure for pressure might not be correctly defined or converted, leading to values that are interpreted as out of range.

    Solution:

To resolve the O3318 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Material Master Data:

      • Go to the material master record (transaction code MM03) and review the relevant views (e.g., Basic Data, Plant Data, and Process Data).
      • Ensure that the pressure values are correctly defined and fall within the acceptable range.
    2. Review Process Parameters:

      • Check the process parameters associated with the material in the relevant production or process order.
      • Ensure that the target volume and reference pressure settings are correctly configured.
    3. Validate Configuration Settings:

      • Review the configuration settings in the system related to pressure and volume for the specific material type.
      • Make sure that the settings align with the physical properties of the material.
    4. Unit of Measure Verification:

      • Verify that the units of measure for pressure are correctly defined in the system and that there are no conversion issues.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on handling pressure-related settings in your version of SAP.
    6. Testing:

      • After making adjustments, test the changes by attempting to process the material again to see if the error persists.
