This message is often encountered in the context of master data management, particularly with materials, customers, or vendors.

    Cause:

    The error is triggered when:

    • There is an attempt to change the deletion indicator of a record (e.g., a material or customer) from one state to another (e.g., from "not deleted" to "deleted" or vice versa) in a way that violates the business rules or data integrity constraints set in the system.
    • The system detects that the deletion indicator is being modified in a way that is not permissible, possibly due to existing dependencies or relationships with other records.

    1. Check Current Status: Review the current deletion indicator status of the record in question. Ensure that you understand its current state and the intended change.

    3. Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the deletion indicator. Sometimes, restrictions are in place based on user roles.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's guidelines regarding the management of deletion indicators. There may be specific procedures to follow.

    5. Use Transaction Codes: If applicable, use transaction codes like MM02 for material master or XD02 for customer master to check and modify the deletion indicator properly.

    Related Information:

    • Deletion Indicators: In SAP, deletion indicators are used to mark records that should not be considered in business processes. For example, a material marked for deletion will not be available for procurement or sales.
