  • What causes this issue?

You have cancelled the "Flag processed change pointers for
reorganization" indicator for the current program run. In view of the
fact that you have not selected all document categories, this may make
    sense.
You can use the indicator to determine whether the processed condition
record changes are marked as "closed" following successful generation
of the worklist for document adjustment, thus earmarking them for
subsequent reorganization (deletion). This ensures that each change is
    processed once only.
As a rule, all document categories for which automatic document
adjustment has been defined in your enterprise should always be
processed if the indicator is set (automatic processing of all relevant
    documents).
In certain cases, it may be necessary to process individual document
categories in advance. In order to ensure that non-processed document
categories can be processed in a subsequent workstep, the indicator
must not be set. You would otherwise delete change pointers that are
still relevant to other document categories.

    System Response

The program draws your attention to the possibly serious consequences
of your selection (duplicated processing of document categories and
    documents in subsequent processing).

    How to fix this error?

Please check that the cancellation of the indicator is intentional.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message NI081 - Processed change pointers will not be deleted (See long text) ?

The SAP error message NI081 indicates that processed change pointers will not be deleted. This message typically arises in the context of Change Pointers, which are used in SAP to track changes to master data and other objects for the purpose of data replication or synchronization.

    Cause:

The error message NI081 can occur due to several reasons, including:

    1. Change Pointer Configuration: The configuration for change pointers may not be set up correctly, leading to issues in processing or deleting them.
    2. Data Consistency Issues: There may be inconsistencies in the data that prevent the deletion of processed change pointers.
    3. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to delete change pointers.
    4. System Settings: Certain system settings or parameters may prevent the deletion of change pointers.

    Solution:

To resolve the NI081 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Change Pointer Configuration:

      • Ensure that the change pointer configuration is correctly set up in the relevant transaction (e.g., transaction BD61 for change pointer settings).
      • Verify that the relevant message types and object types are correctly defined.
    2. Review Processed Change Pointers:

      • Use transaction SCDO (Change Document Objects) to check the status of processed change pointers.
      • You can also use transaction BD87 to reprocess change pointers if necessary.
    3. Check for Data Consistency:

      • Run consistency checks on the data that is being tracked by change pointers to ensure there are no issues that could prevent deletion.
    4. Authorization Check:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to delete change pointers. This may involve checking roles and permissions in the user profile.
    5. System Parameters:

      • Check system parameters related to change pointers. You may need to consult with your SAP Basis team to ensure that the system settings are appropriate.
    6. Manual Deletion:

      • If automated deletion is not working, you may consider manually deleting the processed change pointers using transaction BD21 (for change pointer deletion).

    Related Information:

    • Change Pointers: Change pointers are a mechanism in SAP for tracking changes to data. They are often used in conjunction with IDocs for data transfer.
    • Transaction Codes:
      • BD61: Change Pointer Configuration
      • BD87: Reprocess Change Pointers
      • SCDO: Change Document Objects
      • BD21: Delete Change Pointers
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to change pointers and the NI081 error message.
