Conversion of unit &V1& to &V2& failed.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Conversion of units was attempted using all the available information
(such as material master, info record). Unfortunately, no suitable
    conversion could be found.
Conversion is carried out on a number of levels that are executed
depending on availability of data (e.g. no material, no conversion via
    material master). The levels are:
The data recorded for the document item (gross/net weight, volumes)
The material info record (Purchasing only)
    The material master
The general conversion of units of the same dimension
If necessary, see any additional logged messages for the individual
    stages of the conversion.
Check whether conversion of units is possible (e.g. via the material
master). If it is, contact your system administrator who can clarify why
    the conversion was unsuccessful.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The function module called is 'MM_ARRANG_QUANTITY_CONVERSION'. This may
have to be checked, if a known conversion is not used.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message NAA081 - Conversion of unit &1 to &2 is not possible (material &3) ?

The SAP error message NAA081 indicates that there is an issue with the conversion of units for a specific material. This typically occurs when you are trying to convert a quantity from one unit of measure (UoM) to another, and the system cannot perform the conversion due to various reasons.

    Causes:

    1. Missing Unit of Measure Conversion: The conversion factor between the two units of measure is not defined in the system.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The units of measure may not be correctly configured in the material master or in the unit of measure settings.
    3. Material Master Issues: The material may not have the necessary data set up for the conversion, such as the base unit of measure or alternative units of measure.
    4. Incompatible Units: The units of measure being used may not be compatible for conversion (e.g., trying to convert between weight and volume without a defined relationship).
    5. Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies or errors in the data related to the material or its units of measure.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Unit of Measure Settings:

      • Go to the transaction code CUNI (Maintain Units of Measure) and verify that the conversion factors between the units of measure are correctly defined.
      • Ensure that the units of measure you are trying to convert between are compatible.
    2. Review Material Master Data:

      • Use transaction code MM03 to display the material master data for the material in question. Check the "Basic Data" and "Purchasing" views to ensure that the units of measure are correctly set up.
      • Ensure that the base unit of measure is defined and that alternative units of measure are correctly configured.
    3. Define Conversion Factors:

      • If the conversion factor is missing, you can define it in the unit of measure settings or directly in the material master.
    4. Check for Data Inconsistencies:

      • Run consistency checks on the material master data to identify any potential issues that may be causing the error.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for additional guidance on unit of measure conversions and material master setup.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • CUNI: Maintain Units of Measure
      • MM03: Display Material Master
      • MM02: Change Material Master
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to unit of measure conversions.
    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to unit of measure settings and material master data.
