How To Fix MPE_PLAN_RTG_VERS092 - Non-serialized object cannot be assigned to serialized routing

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: MPE_PLAN_RTG_VERS - Manage Production Routing Version

  • Message number: 092

  • Message text: Non-serialized object cannot be assigned to serialized routing

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You are currently processing a shop floor routing for a serialized
product and are trying to assign an object that was created in the
    context of a non-serialized product.
This is not possible: If, for example, an operation is created in the
context of a serialized product, it's operation activities contain two
status and action schemas (SAS); one for non-serialized products and one
for serialized products. However, if the routing is created for a
non-serialized product, the operation activities only contain one SAS
for non-serialized products. Therefore, you cannot assign an operation
created for a non-serialized product to a routing that contains a
serialized product and vice versa. In addition, the objects created for
serialized products contain additional QM settings that are required for
production that are not available for the objects created for
    non-serialized products.

    System Response

The system cannot assign this object.

    How to fix this error?

You can only assign objects that were created in the same context -
either for a non-serialized product or a serialized product.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MPE_PLAN_RTG_VERS092 - Non-serialized object cannot be assigned to serialized routing ?

The SAP error message MPE_PLAN_RTG_VERS092 indicates that there is an attempt to assign a non-serialized object to a serialized routing. This typically occurs in the context of production planning and routing in SAP, where serialized objects are expected to have unique identifiers and specific characteristics that non-serialized objects do not possess.

    Cause:

    1. Non-Serialized Object: The object you are trying to assign (e.g., a material or component) is not defined as serialized in the system. Serialized objects are those that have a unique serial number assigned to each instance.
    2. Routing Configuration: The routing you are trying to use is configured to require serialized components, but the object you are attempting to assign does not meet this requirement.
    3. Data Entry Error: There may be a mistake in the data entry or configuration where a non-serialized item is incorrectly linked to a serialized routing.

    Solution:

    1. Check Object Configuration: Verify the configuration of the object you are trying to assign. Ensure that it is set up as a serialized object if it needs to be used in a serialized routing.
    2. Review Routing Settings: Check the routing settings to confirm whether it is indeed set to require serialized components. If the routing does not need to be serialized, consider adjusting the routing configuration.
    3. Use Correct Object: If the routing requires a serialized object, ensure that you are using the correct material or component that is defined as serialized in the system.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details on how to configure serialized and non-serialized objects and routings.
    5. Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Serialized vs. Non-Serialized Objects: Understand the difference between serialized and non-serialized objects in SAP. Serialized objects are tracked individually, while non-serialized objects are treated as a bulk quantity.
    • Routing in SAP: Familiarize yourself with how routings are set up in SAP, including the requirements for components and the implications of using serialized versus non-serialized items.
    • Transaction Codes: Use relevant transaction codes (e.g., CA01 for creating routings, CA02 for changing routings) to review and modify routing configurations as needed.

By addressing the configuration and ensuring that the correct object types are used, you should be able to resolve the error message MPE_PLAN_RTG_VERS092.
