  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MMRP01237 - Phantom assembly without material: Node &2 of order &1 will not be firmed ?

The SAP error message MMRP01237 indicates that there is a phantom assembly in a production order that does not have a corresponding material assigned to it. This typically occurs in the context of production planning and execution, particularly when dealing with phantom assemblies in a Bill of Materials (BOM).

    Cause:

    1. Missing Material Assignment: The phantom assembly node in the production order is not linked to a material master record. This can happen if the material was not created or if it was deleted.
    2. Incorrect BOM Configuration: The BOM for the phantom assembly may not be correctly configured, leading to the absence of a material reference.
    3. Order Configuration Issues: The production order may have been created without properly referencing the necessary materials for the phantom assembly.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Master: Verify that the material for the phantom assembly exists in the system. If it does not, create the material master record.
    2. Review BOM: Check the BOM associated with the production order. Ensure that the phantom assembly is correctly defined and that it has a valid material assigned to it.
    3. Adjust Production Order: If the production order was created incorrectly, you may need to delete and recreate it, ensuring that all necessary materials are included.
    4. Firming the Order: If the order is not firmed, you may need to firm it after ensuring that all materials are correctly assigned. This can be done through the production order management transaction.
    5. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific configurations related to phantom assemblies and production orders.

    Related Information:

    • Phantom Assemblies: These are used in production to simplify the BOM structure. They are not stocked as separate materials but are used in the production process.
    • Production Order Management: Understanding how production orders are created and managed in SAP can help prevent such errors.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on handling phantom assemblies.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the MMRP01237 error and ensure that your production orders are correctly configured.
