- Method for planned order &1 is not unique ?The SAP error message MMRP01143, which states "Method for planned order &1 is not unique," typically occurs in the context of production planning and material requirements planning (MRP) when there is ambiguity in the method assigned to a planned order. This can happen for various reasons, such as multiple methods being defined for the same planned order or issues with the configuration of the production process.
Causes:
- Multiple Methods Defined: There may be multiple methods defined for the same planned order type or material, leading to confusion in the system about which method to use.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings in the production planning module may not be set up correctly, causing the system to find more than one valid method for processing the planned order.
- Master Data Issues: Problems with the master data, such as the material master or routing, can lead to this error if there are conflicting entries.
- Custom Development: If there are custom developments or enhancements in the system, they might be causing conflicts in the method determination logic.
Solutions:
- Check Configuration: Review the configuration settings for the planned order type and ensure that there is a unique method defined for the planned order. This can be done in the SPRO transaction under the relevant production planning settings.
- Review Master Data: Check the material master and routing for the material associated with the planned order. Ensure that there are no conflicting entries that could lead to multiple methods being available.
- Analyze Method Determination Logic: If there are custom developments, review the code to ensure that it correctly determines the method for planned orders without ambiguity.
- Use Transaction Codes: Utilize transaction codes like MD04 (Stock/Requirements List) or CO01 (Create Production Order) to analyze the planned order and see if there are any discrepancies in the data.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to this error message for any specific guidance or patches that may address the issue.
