MM658
- You deleted the last EAN even though the material is GDS-relevant ?The SAP error message MM658 indicates that you have attempted to delete the last European Article Number (EAN) for a material that is relevant for Global Data Synchronization (GDS). This error typically arises in the context of managing product data in SAP, particularly when dealing with materials that are required to have an EAN for compliance with GDS standards.
Cause:
- Material GDS Relevance: The material in question is marked as GDS-relevant, meaning it is expected to have a valid EAN for identification and synchronization purposes.
- Last EAN Deletion: You are trying to delete the last remaining EAN associated with the material. Since the material is GDS-relevant, it cannot exist without at least one EAN.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check Existing EANs: Before attempting to delete an EAN, check if there are any other EANs associated with the material. If there are multiple EANs, you can delete one of them without triggering the error.
Add a New EAN: If you need to delete the existing EAN, consider adding a new EAN first. This way, you ensure that the material still has an EAN associated with it, thus maintaining compliance with GDS requirements.
Review Material Settings: If the material is no longer relevant for GDS, you may need to change its classification or settings to remove the GDS relevance. This should be done with caution and in accordance with your organization's data governance policies.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's guidelines on managing EANs and GDS-relevant materials for specific procedures and best practices.
Contact Support: If you are unsure about the implications of changing EANs or GDS relevance, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or a consultant for assistance.
