  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MM062 - Incompatibility in price control (matl price determination <-> matl type) ?

The SAP error message MM062 indicates an incompatibility in price control between material price determination and material type. This error typically arises when there is a mismatch in the configuration settings for the material's price control and its material type.

    Cause:

    1. Material Type Configuration: Each material type in SAP has specific settings for price control (e.g., moving average price, standard price). If a material is assigned a price control that is not compatible with its material type, this error will occur.
    2. Material Master Data: The material master record may have been incorrectly set up, leading to a conflict between the price control and the material type.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Type Settings: Review the configuration of the material type in transaction code OMT0 (Material Types). Ensure that the price control settings are correctly defined for the material type you are using.
    2. Review Material Master Data: Use transaction code MM03 to display the material master data and check the price control field. Ensure that it aligns with the material type's configuration.
    3. Change Material Type or Price Control: If necessary, you may need to change the material type or adjust the price control in the material master. This can be done using transaction code MM02 (Change Material).
    4. Consult with Configuration Team: If you are unsure about the correct settings, consult with your SAP configuration team or a functional consultant who specializes in MM (Materials Management) to ensure that the settings are appropriate for your business processes.
