  • What causes this issue?

The <ZK>Main GTIN</> indicator for article &V1& and unit of measure &V2&
has an inconsistent status. The cause is one of the following:
There is at least one GTIN for which the <ZK>Main GTIN</> indicator has
a value that is not permitted.
Multiple data records were imported where, for the same GTIN of the
article and unit of measure, the GTIN is marked as the main GTIN in one
data record, and not marked as such in another data record.
This inconsistency has an effect on all GTINs for the current article
    and unit of measure.

    System Response

Due to this inconsistency, the system cannot check whether the <ZK>Main
GTIN</> indicator for article &V1& and unit of measure &V2& is correctly
set for all GTINs. The data records that are affected by the
inconsistency are therefore also flagged as having errors.

    How to fix this error?

You can correct the error in two ways:
By adjusting the data in your input file/in the clipboard
In the transaction, by correcting the <ZK>Main GTIN</> indicator in one
of the incorrect GTINs for this article and unit of measure.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

The SAP error message MK034 indicates that there is an issue with the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) for a material in relation to its unit of measure (UoM). This error typically arises when the GTIN assigned to a material does not match the expected configuration or data in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Mismatch in GTIN Configuration: The GTIN for the material may not be correctly configured in the system for the specified unit of measure.
    2. Incorrect Data Entry: There may be a data entry error where the GTIN or UoM has been incorrectly entered or linked.
    3. Missing GTIN: The GTIN may not be assigned to the material for the specified UoM.
    4. Changes in Material Master: If there have been recent changes to the material master data, it may have led to inconsistencies in GTIN assignments.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Master Data:

      • Go to the material master record (transaction code MM03) and verify the GTIN assigned to the material.
      • Ensure that the GTIN is correctly linked to the appropriate unit of measure.
    2. Adjust GTIN Settings:

      • If the GTIN is missing or incorrect, you can adjust it by using transaction code MM02 to edit the material master data.
      • Navigate to the relevant views (e.g., Basic Data 1, Sales Org. Data, etc.) and ensure that the GTIN is correctly entered for the specified UoM.
    3. Review UoM Settings:

      • Check the unit of measure settings in the material master to ensure that the UoM is correctly defined and that it corresponds to the GTIN.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review any relevant documentation or guidelines regarding GTIN management in your organization to ensure compliance with standards.
    5. Testing:

      • After making adjustments, perform a test transaction to ensure that the error no longer occurs.

    Related Information:

    • GTIN: The Global Trade Item Number is a unique identifier for trade items, which can be used for tracking and inventory management.
