Solution:
Check Active Inventory Documents:
- Use transaction code MI03 (Display Physical Inventory Document) to check if there is an active physical inventory document for the material in question.
- If you find an active document, you may need to complete or cancel it before starting a new one.
Complete or Cancel the Existing Inventory:
- If the existing physical inventory is still valid, complete it by entering the counts and posting the results.
- If the existing inventory is no longer needed, you can cancel it using transaction code MI04 (Change Physical Inventory Document) or MI05 (Cancel Physical Inventory Document).
Check for Locks:
- Ensure that there are no locks on the material that could prevent the initiation of a new physical inventory. You can check for locks using transaction code SM12.
