Message class: M3 - Material Master
Message number: 028
Message text: Alternative units of measure have been checked and corrected
You have entered conversion factors for the alternative units of
measure. However, these conversion factors
either do not correspond to the values in the unit of measurement table
(example 1)
or are inconsistent (example 2)
The system has checked the values for consistency and, where necessary,
corrected them.
&EXAMPLE& 1
You choose G as the base unit and KG as the alternative unit.
According to the table, 1,000 g = 1 kg
You enter 900 g = 1 kg
The table specifies that 1,000 g = 1 kg. The system therefore
overwrites your entry 900 with 1,000.
&EXAMPLE& 2
You choose PC as the base unit, KG as the first alternative unit, and G
as the second alternative unit.
According to the table, 1 kg = 1,000 g
You enter 2 pc = 1 kg and 2 pc = 900 g
The table and the first entry specify that 2 pc = 1,000 g. The system
therefore overwrites the second entry of 900 with 1,000.
Check the corrected values.

Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to the material, such as incorrect entries in the material master or issues with the unit of measure tables.
Transaction Errors: The error can also arise during transactions that involve inventory management, such as goods movements, where the system checks the alternative units of measure.
Solution:
Check Material Master Data:
- Go to the material master (transaction code MM03) and check the "Units of Measure" view.
- Ensure that the alternative units of measure are correctly defined and that the conversion factors are accurate.
Review Configuration:

- Ensure that the settings for alternative units of measure are correctly defined in the relevant configuration areas.
Data Consistency Check:
- Run a consistency check on the material master data to identify any discrepancies.
