  • Message text: Warning: inconsistencies may occur when units updated => please check

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The characteristics you have chosen could lead to inconsistencies in
    the updating of the units.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    Example:
The information structure does not contain a characteristic that
clearly indicates the currency in which data is to be updated (for
example, the sales organization); furthermore, the currency itself is
not a characteristic of the information structure. If documents in
differing currencies are now updated to the statistics, this can cause
the system to add different values together in a data record.

    How to fix this error?

There are two possible ways you can guarantee that updating is
    consistent:
    RESET N1
Add a field to your information structure that clearly identifies the
unit, or add the unit itself as a characteristic.
Make sure that only documents which clearly refer to a unit are
    created.

The SAP error message M2314, which states "Warning: inconsistencies may occur when units updated => please check," typically arises in the context of material management and inventory management processes. This warning indicates that there may be inconsistencies in the unit of measure (UoM) settings for materials, which can lead to potential issues in inventory valuation, reporting, and transaction processing.

    Causes:

    1. Unit of Measure Configuration: There may be discrepancies in the configuration of units of measure for a material. For example, the base unit of measure may not align with the alternative units of measure defined in the material master.

    2. Material Master Data Issues: Inconsistencies in the material master data, such as incorrect or missing unit of measure conversions, can trigger this warning.

    4. Data Migration Issues: If data has been migrated from another system, there may be inconsistencies in how units of measure were defined or converted.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Material Master Data: Review the material master data for the affected materials. Ensure that the base unit of measure and alternative units of measure are correctly defined and that conversion factors are accurate.

    2. Review Unit of Measure Settings: Go to the transaction code MM02 (Change Material) and check the "Units of Measure" view. Verify that the units are consistent and correctly configured.

    3. Perform Consistency Checks: Use transaction codes like MM03 (Display Material) to check the material's details and ensure that all relevant data is consistent.

    4. Update or Correct Data: If inconsistencies are found, update the material master data to correct any errors. This may involve adjusting the unit of measure settings or correcting any transaction errors.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling unit of measure issues.
