  • What causes this issue?

You attempted to delete an entry from the administration table for the
posting deadline. This entry belongs to an end-of-day processing run
that is currently still active. You are not permitted to delete this.
If you want to change the posting deadline manually, you have to
specify the date and time of this posting deadline in the last two
columns of the row, and then save your entries.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

In general, it is not necessary to delete entries manually from the
administration table for the posting deadline. This is because, at the
start of each end-of-day processing run, data records that are no
longer required are automatically removed from the table. You only need
to delete records manually as an exception.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message LM392 - End-of-day processing run with time stamp &1 &2 is still active ?

The SAP error message LM392 indicates that an end-of-day processing run is still active, which prevents you from starting a new end-of-day processing run. This situation typically arises in the context of logistics and inventory management, where end-of-day processing is crucial for updating stock levels, processing transactions, and ensuring data integrity.

    Cause:

    1. Active Processing: The most common cause of this error is that a previous end-of-day processing run has not yet completed. This could be due to long-running processes, system performance issues, or a lock that has not been released.
    2. System Lock: Sometimes, a system lock may occur if the previous run is stuck or has encountered an error, preventing it from completing.
    3. User Intervention: If a user manually interrupts the end-of-day process, it may leave the process in an active state.

    Solution:

    1. Check Active Processes: Use transaction codes like SM37 (Job Monitoring) to check for any active background jobs related to end-of-day processing. Look for jobs with the same timestamp mentioned in the error message.
    2. Wait for Completion: If you find that the end-of-day process is still running, you may need to wait for it to complete. Monitor the job status until it finishes.
    3. Terminate Stuck Jobs: If the job is stuck and not progressing, you may need to terminate it. You can do this in SM37 by selecting the job and choosing the option to cancel or delete it.
    4. Check Logs: Review the logs for the end-of-day processing run to identify any errors or issues that may have caused it to hang. This can provide insights into what went wrong.
    5. Restart the Process: After ensuring that no active jobs are running, you can attempt to restart the end-of-day processing run.
    6. System Performance: If this issue occurs frequently, consider checking system performance and resource allocation to ensure that the end-of-day processing can complete in a timely manner.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM37 for job monitoring, SM21 for system logs, and SLG1 for application logs.
