- Material is a co-product - it cannot be assigned ?The SAP error message KZ150 indicates that you are trying to assign a material that is classified as a co-product in a production process, but the system does not allow this assignment due to the nature of co-products in SAP.
Cause:
- Co-Product Definition: In SAP, co-products are materials that are produced simultaneously in a production process and have significant economic value. They are typically defined in the material master and production process.
- Assignment Restrictions: The error occurs when you attempt to assign a co-product to a production order, bill of materials (BOM), or routing where such an assignment is not permitted. This could happen if the system expects a different type of material (like a by-product or a main product) or if the configuration does not allow for co-products in that context.
Solution:
- Check Material Master: Verify the material master data for the material in question. Ensure that it is correctly defined as a co-product and that all relevant settings are properly configured.
- Review Production Process: Ensure that the production order or BOM you are working with is set up to handle co-products. This may involve checking the routing and ensuring that the production process is designed to accommodate co-products.
- Adjust Configuration: If necessary, consult with your SAP configuration team to ensure that the system is set up to allow for the assignment of co-products in the relevant contexts. This may involve changes in the configuration of the production process or the material types.
- Use Alternative Materials: If the assignment is not valid for co-products, consider using a different material that is not classified as a co-product for the assignment.
