  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KY423 - Report &1 cannot be executed (key figure deleted) ?

The SAP error message KY423 indicates that a report cannot be executed because a key figure has been deleted. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when a report or query references a key figure that no longer exists in the underlying data model.

    Cause:

    1. Deleted Key Figure: The most direct cause is that a key figure that was previously part of the report has been deleted from the InfoProvider (e.g., InfoCube, DataStore Object).
    2. Changes in Data Model: Changes in the data model, such as modifications to the InfoObject definitions or the structure of the InfoProvider, can lead to this error.
    3. Query Definition Issues: If the query definition still references the deleted key figure, it will result in this error when attempting to execute the report.

    Solution:

    1. Check Query Definition:

      • Open the query in the Query Designer.
      • Look for any references to the deleted key figure. If found, remove or replace it with an appropriate key figure that exists in the data model.
    2. Update the InfoProvider:

      • If the key figure was deleted unintentionally, consider restoring it if possible. This may involve reactivating the InfoObject or re-adding it to the InfoProvider.
    3. Rebuild the Report:

      • If the report is heavily dependent on the deleted key figure, it may be necessary to rebuild the report or create a new query that aligns with the current data model.
    4. Check for Dependencies:

      • Review any dependencies or other reports that might be affected by the deletion of the key figure. Ensure that all related reports are updated accordingly.
    5. Transport Requests:

      • If the deletion was part of a transport request, ensure that the transport was correctly executed and that all necessary objects are included.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes like RSRT (Query Monitor) or RSO2 (InfoObject Maintenance) to analyze and manage queries and InfoObjects.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation for detailed steps on managing InfoObjects and queries in BW/BI.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. Sometimes, specific versions of SAP BW/BI may have bugs that are addressed in later patches.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the KY423 error and successfully execute your report.
