KQ543
- Cannot delete costing type & (standard cost estimate) ?The SAP error message KQ543, which states "Cannot delete costing type & (standard cost estimate)," typically occurs when you attempt to delete a costing type that is associated with a standard cost estimate in the system. This error is a safeguard to prevent the deletion of costing types that are still in use, as it could lead to inconsistencies in financial reporting and cost management.
Cause:
- Active Standard Cost Estimate: The costing type you are trying to delete is linked to an active standard cost estimate. SAP does not allow the deletion of costing types that are currently in use.
- Dependencies: There may be other dependencies or references to the costing type in various configurations or transactions that prevent its deletion.
- Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to delete the costing type.
Solution:
Check Active Cost Estimates:
- Go to the transaction code CK13N (Display Material Cost Estimate) and check if there are any active standard cost estimates associated with the costing type you want to delete.
- If there are active estimates, you will need to either change or delete those estimates before you can delete the costing type.
Delete or Change Cost Estimates:
- If you find active cost estimates, you can either:
- Change the cost estimate to remove the association with the costing type.
- Delete the cost estimate if it is no longer needed (use transaction CK40N for this).
Check for Dependencies:
- Review any other configurations or settings that might be referencing the costing type. This could include cost centers, internal orders, or other controlling objects.
Authorization Check:
- Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete costing types. If not, contact your SAP security administrator to obtain the required permissions.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed guidance on managing costing types and cost estimates.
Related Information:
If you continue to face issues after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in controlling (CO) and costing in SAP.
