  • What causes this issue?

You are attempting to change the data of the status-independent
valuation methods in simplified Customizing. Changing this data will
result in changes in table TKKAS of the status-dependent valuation
    methods (Expert Mode).
Therefore, when you went into the change mode in simplified Customizing
of the valuation methods, the system attempted to lock table TKKAS to
prevent inconsistencies. This was not possible because the data was
being processed by user &V1& in the change mode. This user may have
made changes in the status-dependent valuation methods (Expert Mode)
that are not reflected in the maintenance screen of the
status-independent valuation methods (simplified Customizing) which you
    are curently processing.

    System Response

The system remains in display mode to prevent inconsistencies.

    How to fix this error?

If you want to make changes to the status-independent valuation methods
in simplified Customizing, exit this transaction and access it again.
The changes in table TKKAS of the status-dependent valuation methods
    will then be included.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KQ186 - Display only. Valuation methods are being processed by user &1 ?

The SAP error message KQ186 ("Display only. Valuation methods are being processed by user &1") typically occurs in the context of the Controlling (CO) module, particularly when dealing with valuation methods in the context of cost accounting or product costing.

    Cause:

This error message indicates that a user is currently processing valuation methods, and as a result, the system is in a state where it cannot allow other users to make changes or view certain data related to those valuation methods. The user identified by &1 is currently holding a lock on the data, which prevents other users from accessing it in a way that could lead to inconsistencies or data corruption.

    Solution:

    1. Wait for the User to Finish: The simplest solution is to wait until the user who is processing the valuation methods completes their task. Once they are done, the lock will be released, and you should be able to access the data.

    2. Identify the User: If you need to know who the user is, you can check the system's lock entries. You can do this by using transaction code SM12 to view the locks and see which user is holding the lock on the valuation methods.

    3. Contact the User: If the user is known and available, you can contact them to find out when they expect to finish their work. This can help you plan your activities accordingly.

    4. System Administrator Intervention: If the user is not responding or if the lock seems to be held indefinitely (for example, due to a session that has crashed), a system administrator may need to intervene. They can use transaction SM12 to delete the lock entry if it is safe to do so.

    5. Check for Background Jobs: Sometimes, background jobs may also hold locks. You can check transaction SM37 to see if there are any background jobs running that might be related to valuation methods.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM12 (to view and manage locks), SM37 (to monitor background jobs), and KKS1 (for product costing).
    • User Training: Ensure that users are trained on how to properly exit transactions to avoid leaving locks in the system.
    • System Performance: Regularly monitor system performance and user activities to prevent prolonged locks and improve overall efficiency.

If the issue persists or if you encounter similar errors frequently, it may be worth investigating the underlying processes or configurations that lead to these locks.
