How To Fix KO355 - No variance/WIP/scrap determination in version-specific confirmation

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: KO - Master data for CO orders

  • Message number: 355

  • Message text: No variance/WIP/scrap determination in version-specific confirmation

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

It does not make sense to determine WIP or variances for product cost
collectors which collect costs at material level. In other words,
without a version if confirmation is to be made for the individual
    production versions using version-specific costs.
The repetitive manufacturing profile for your material stipulates that
the confirmation is to be version-specific. In addition, you entered a
variance key or results analysis key in your product cost collector.

    How to fix this error?

You can ignore the warning message if you:
have not defined a production version in the material master
do not want to determine WIP
do not want to determine scrap
do not want to calculate variances
However, if you do want to confirm version-specific costs and want to
calculate WIP or variances as part of period-end closing, you must
create a product cost collector for each production version, and
choose a repetitive production profile to confirm and collect the costs
    for each production version

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KO355 - No variance/WIP/scrap determination in version-specific confirmation ?

The SAP error message KO355 ("No variance/WIP/scrap determination in version-specific confirmation") typically occurs in the context of production order confirmations, particularly when dealing with version management in SAP. This error indicates that the system is unable to determine the variance, work in progress (WIP), or scrap for a production order due to the absence of the necessary configuration or data.

    Causes:

    1. Missing Configuration: The configuration for variance calculation, WIP, or scrap determination may not be set up correctly in the system.
    2. Version-Specific Settings: The production order may be using a version that does not have the necessary settings for variance or WIP determination.
    3. Incorrect Order Status: The production order may be in a status that does not allow for variance or WIP calculations.
    4. Missing Master Data: Required master data (like cost centers, activity types, or production versions) may be missing or incorrectly maintained.
    5. Inconsistent Data: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to the production order or the materials involved.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Configuration: Ensure that the configuration for variance calculation, WIP, and scrap determination is correctly set up in the system. This includes checking the settings in the controlling area and production order types.
    2. Review Production Version: Verify that the production version used in the order has the necessary settings for variance and WIP determination. You may need to adjust the production version or create a new one with the correct settings.
    3. Order Status: Check the status of the production order. If it is not in a status that allows for confirmation, you may need to change the status or complete any prerequisite steps.
    4. Master Data Verification: Ensure that all relevant master data is correctly maintained. This includes checking cost centers, activity types, and production versions.
    5. Data Consistency Check: Run consistency checks on the production order and related data to identify any discrepancies that may be causing the issue.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like CO11N (for confirmation) and CO02 (for order change) to investigate and resolve the issue.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on configuration.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation on production order management and variance calculation for detailed information on the configuration and processes involved.

If the issue persists after checking these areas, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in controlling (CO) and production planning (PP) modules.
