  • Message class: KE -

  • Message number: 889

  • Message text: Characteristic &1 cannot be generated in structure COPABBSEG

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The structure COPABBSEG is used for transferring characteristics from FI
to CO-PA when FI postings are created by direct input using program
RFBIBL00. This structure can only contain CHAR fields. Consequently,
when a characteristic does not own a CHAR domain, the system tries to
generate a CHAR field corresponding to the output length of the
characteristic. The system tries to obtain such a domain or related data
element from structure RKECHAR. Furthermore, this structure only
contains domains or data elements of a maximum of 25 characters in
length. However, the domain for characteristic &V1& has an output length
    of &V2& characters.

    System Response

Characteristic &V1& cannot be generated in structure COPABBSEG.

    How to fix this error?

Use transaction SE11 to define new data elements RKECHARYY matching the
definition of data element RKECHAR25, and activate them in collection
KE0C. Start with RKECHAR26 and continue to create data elements until
you have reached RKECHARXX, where XX stands for &V2&.
In the case of RKECHAR26, for example, you would need to make the
    following settings:
Short description: Character field length 26
    Domain: CHAR26
Short field label: CHAR26 with length 10
Medium field label: CHAR26 with length 15
Long field label: CHAR26 with length 20
Heading: Character field length 26 with length 25
Save the data elements in package KE0C and activate them.
With transaction SE11, call structure RKECHAR and append components
RKECHARYY with the data elements RKECHARYY that you have just defined.
    Save and activate the structure.
Generate the environment of your operating concern.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
