  • Message class: KE -

  • Message number: 273

  • Message text: Inconsistent data following user exit!

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The system executed a user exit to valuate a CO-PA line item.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    The following data was saved:
    Point of valuation &v1&
    Number of user exit &v2&
    Line items: operating concern &v3&
    reference document number &v4&
You cannot change any characteristic values during valuation, since that
could lead to inconsistencies (e.g. profitability segment number and
corresponding characteristic values are different -> incorrect
    report data).
In Customizing for Profitability Analysis, check the valuation strategy
assigned to the point of valuation &V1&. The program contained in the
user exit &v2& may not change characteristics (that is, it can only
    change value fields).

    System Response

The valuation could not be carried out.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure that the user exit &V2& only accesses value fields.
If you want to change characteristic values, do this using the user exit
for derivation. A separate component for this is stored for this in
    SAP project management.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KE273 - Inconsistent data following user exit! ?

The SAP error message KE273 ("Inconsistent data following user exit") typically occurs in the context of Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) when there is an inconsistency in the data that is being processed, often due to custom code or user exits that have been implemented.

    Cause:

    1. User Exit Issues: The error often arises from custom code in user exits that manipulate data in a way that leads to inconsistencies. This could be due to incorrect logic, missing data, or unexpected data formats.
    2. Data Inconsistencies: The data being processed may not meet the expected criteria or format, leading to inconsistencies. This can happen if the data is not properly validated before being processed.
    3. Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings in CO-PA or related modules can also lead to this error.
    4. Missing or Incorrect Master Data: If the master data (like cost centers, profit centers, etc.) is missing or incorrectly set up, it can lead to inconsistencies during data processing.

    Solution:

    1. Review User Exits: Check the custom code in the user exits that are being used in the CO-PA process. Ensure that the logic is correct and that it properly handles all expected scenarios.
    2. Data Validation: Implement additional validation checks to ensure that the data being processed is consistent and meets the required criteria before it is passed to the user exit.
    3. Check Configuration: Review the configuration settings in CO-PA and related modules to ensure they are set up correctly. This includes checking the settings for valuation, account determination, and other relevant configurations.
    4. Master Data Check: Verify that all necessary master data is present and correctly configured. This includes checking for missing or incorrect entries in cost centers, profit centers, and other relevant master data.
    5. Debugging: If the issue persists, consider debugging the process to identify the exact point of failure. This can help pinpoint the specific data or logic that is causing the inconsistency.
    6. SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide guidance on resolving it. SAP frequently releases updates and patches that may resolve known issues.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may want to use transaction codes like KE30 (Report for CO-PA) or KE24 (Display CO-PA Document) to analyze the data and identify inconsistencies.
    • User Exits: Familiarize yourself with the specific user exits being used in your implementation. Common user exits for CO-PA include COPA0001, COPA0002, etc.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community or forums where other users may have encountered similar issues. They can provide insights or solutions based on their experiences.

If the problem continues after trying these solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with an SAP expert or your technical team for further assistance.
