Message type: E = Error
Message class: KD - CO Settlement
Message number: 804
Message text: Receiver &1 is already sender in settlement hierarchy
The settlement receiver &V1& entered in the settlement rule of object
&V2& already exists in the settlement hierarchy as a sender (to object
&V3&). This produces a closed hierarchy (cyclical) that cannot be
settled correctly.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Remove object &V1& either as a sender to object &V3& or as a receiver
for object &V2&. Then execute report RKSRULE4 to correct the hierarchy
numbers.
Although you can indeed save the distribution rule for a closed cycle,
this does not produce a complete settlement or a defined sequence in the
settlement.

KD804
- Receiver &1 is already sender in settlement hierarchy ?The SAP error message KD804 ("Receiver &1 is already sender in settlement hierarchy") typically occurs in the context of controlling (CO) when you are trying to set up or modify a settlement hierarchy in SAP. This error indicates that the receiver you are trying to assign is already being used as a sender in another part of the settlement hierarchy.
Cause:
- Duplicate Assignment: The receiver (e.g., a cost center, internal order, or project) you are trying to assign to a new sender is already assigned as a sender in another settlement hierarchy.
- Incorrect Configuration: There may be a misconfiguration in the settlement structure or hierarchy that leads to this conflict.
- Hierarchy Structure: The structure of the settlement hierarchy may not allow for the same object to be both a sender and a receiver simultaneously.
Solution:
- Check Existing Assignments: Review the current settlement hierarchy to see where the receiver is already assigned as a sender. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction in SAP (e.g., KOB1 for order settlement).
- Modify Hierarchy: If the receiver needs to be a sender in the new hierarchy, you may need to adjust the existing hierarchy to remove it as a sender or change the assignment.
- Use Different Receivers: If possible, consider using a different receiver that is not already assigned as a sender in the hierarchy.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or configuration guides related to settlement hierarchies to ensure that you are following the correct procedures.
- Check for Customizations: If your organization has custom developments or enhancements, check if they might be affecting the settlement hierarchy.
